< Back to Previous Page Fatal Vehicle Accident In New York The New Hartford Police Department has reported that the Department is continuing an investigation into a three car motor vehicle accident on Rt. 5 that claimed the life of one person. Officer Christopher J. Burns states that an eastbound vehicle that was turning into a driveway on Rt. 5 near the Town of Kirkland line was struck in the rear by a second eastbound vehicle.  The second eastbound vehicle then veered into the westbound lane and struck a westbound vehicle head on. Burns did state that one of the parties involved in the accident was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.  Also reported by Burns was that a second party was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and a third party was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital before also being transported to Upstate Medical Center. At this time the accident is still under investigation and no names are being released until proper notifications to relatives have been made.  The New Hartford Police Department was assisted at the scene by the New Hartford Fire Department, Edward’s Ambulance, Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance, the Clark Mills Fire Department and the New York State Police Troop D Forensic Identification Unit.
