< Back to Previous Page Suffolk County Police Dept Investigates Car Accident Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a two car crash that left a Medford woman in critical condition and seven others injured today. Edgar Marca, 39, of 173 Jamaica Ave. , Medford , was operating his 1996 Chevrolet westbound on Victory Ave. in Shirley when he apparently turned left to enter the westbound entrance ramp to Sunrise Highway and was struck by an eastbound 2007 Ford Suburban operated by Taisha Austin, 30, of 850 Skyline Dr. , Coram.   Marca’s wife, Nellie Villa Marca, the passenger in his vehicle, sustained serious head trauma and other serious internal injuries. She was initially transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in critical condition and subsequently transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital for further treatment. Marca and Austin were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Five other occupants of Austin ’s car, ranging in age from 19 to 3 years old were also taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Austin was issued two summonses for improper child safety seating. Marca was issued one summons for driving an uninspected vehicle. Both vehicles were impounded by Suffolk Police for safety inspections.
