New York Defensive Driving Tips During The Holiday Season

At this time of year, we tend to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.  Here are some holiday safe driving tips. Be aware that stress, fatigue, and alcohol can each have an effect on your driving ability. When you are stressed or fatigued, alcohol may affect you more quickly or differently than it usually would. Holidays can be busy travel times. That means the stress and fatigue of crowded highways, airports, and bus and train stations.

Did you know that of all the different holidays celebrated in the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated by the most people?  That's because it's truly an American holiday. And what about the holiday dinner?  Traditionally there is a table with an abundance of food, and everyone overindulges.  Eating an excessive amount can make you feel tired.

Preparations for the Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Years holidays, along with all of our normal daily activities and extra holiday events and obligations, may leave us feeling stressed and tired. At the social events of the season, alcohol may be served. You might be tempted to indulge in an extra drink or two while celebrating.  Some communities have a designated driver or safe ride home program, especially at this time of year.  Or discuss with your friends or family who will be taking a turn as designated driver.  Make arrangements BEFORE the party.
